According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, there are nearly 50,000 homeless Veterans across the nation on any given night… “To lend a helping hand to the people who’ve given so much for our country and who have protected our families is an honor,” says Charles Oppler, COO and Co-Owner of Prominent Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, “The invitation is open to anyone who would like to donate.”

All items collected will be donated to homeless Veterans who are receiving treatment through VA, including those residing in residential programs, transitional housing, and permanent supported housing provided through a partnership between the VA and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The homeless Veterans living in these residences typically come from the streets or are working on treatment issues (for example, sobriety, mental health, budgeting, legal, vocational development, etc.) in order to prepare for eventual transition into affordable permanent housing in the community.

Veterans have identified that they could greatly benefit from the following items:

  • Paper towels, toilet paper, tissues
  • NEW men’s socks, underwear, sweats
  • NEW shower shoes (not flip-flops)
  • NEW pillows
  • NEW full and twin size air mattresses
  • NEW full and twin size sheets and blankets
  • NEW towels
  • NEW pots and pans
  • Gift cards to fast-food chains

(Please note, these items are provided for the Veterans, but extra items are always appreciated.)

Prominent Properties Sotheby’s International Realty will be collecting items from this list for donation at the firm’s Saddle River regional office located at 152 West Saddle River Rd during the office hours of 9:00am-5:00pm from now until July 31, 2017.

At the end of the donation drive, the items collected will be delivered to Voluntary Service at the VA New Jersey Health Care System in Lyons, New Jersey, to help our Veterans in need.

Members of the firm’s Short Hills/Summit regional office participate in the 7th Annual Family Promise Breakfast

Members of the Prominent Properties Sotheby’s International Realty’s Short Hills/Summit regional office donated to and participated in Family Promise’s 7th Annual Our Promise to Children Breakfast at the Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit, NJ on Wednesday, May 17th from 9:00am-10:00am.

The hour-long event was a great opportunity to learn more about Family Promise’s mission to empower families experiencing homelessness and low-income families into sustainable independence. This year, guest speakers shared their stories and attendees learned what’s unique about the Family Promise approach.

Attendees also met the volunteers of Family Promise– the heart of the program–who offer not just meals and friendship, but also skills and resources.

Most importantly, attendees learned how to be part Family Promises’ local response and national movement addressing family homelessness.
